India ink, Colored Ink, Acrylic on paper-105 x 85 cm“Bald as Bartleby, undecided as a ghostly face, the first artwork of this series “I would rather… or not” opens the way towards the progress of ectoplasms through frames. Anne Pangolin Guéno wanted this series as a globally abstract creation but also as a reference to two authors and two characters, Herman Melville and his character Bartleby in the short story of the same name in which the hero is the ironic promoter of a provocative and intriguing lifestyle, whose iconic sentence is “I would prefer not to” ; and Alejandro Jodorowsky and his character Alef-Thau who practises the astral journey by becoming emanation or ectoplasm. A way of putting forward her vision of the light life in the ghostly sense, and an attempt to go away from the materiality while keeping in touch with it” .
